Lyon Opera House
Lyon, France
The new Lyon Opera House, which re-opened in 1993, was designed by Jean Nouvel within the four walls of the old.
The project comprises a 1 200 seat theater and rehearsal spaces. It also has a dance studio which is situated just under the barrel-shaped roof, with a splendid view over the city. The concept for the house side of the opera was developed by Jaques Le Marquet, together with the architects.
dUCKS’ role in the project was the design of all the technical facilities, notably those in the stage house. This includes the stage machinery and the motorized fly-system.
To us, this project has a speclal meaning, not only because it is in our home town, but also because it is synonimous with the start of our company.
