The new concert hall for Hamburg will count 2 150 seats, and have a second performance space with a capacity between 250 and 550 seats, in various seating configurations. In addition to thes performance spaces, there will be rehearsal spaces, including one for small-scale concerts, an extensive backstage area, as well as facilities for broadcasting.
The project, partly within, yet mostly on top of a former cacoa storage building at the west end of the new Hafencity, includes apartments and a hotel. A parking garage is embedded in the first few levels of the storage building.
dUCKS contributes at the conceptual design level of the in-the-round concert hall, the multifunctional approach of the chamber music hall, as well as the circulation for audience, performers, staff and materials. dUCKS also provides technical studies for sightlines, and designs and specifies stage and overhead machinery, theater lighting and audiovisual systems and their supporting infrastructure.
