Scenography
We provide architectural design and consulting services for performing and visual arts. We look at all theatrical aspects and understand their relation to architecture, acoustics, structure and engineering.
We include in our tasks those of the traditional theater consultant, like the interpretation and development of the program, and the design and engineering for all facilitating theater technologies. But we are equally active outside the stage area, concerned about the overall scenography of the building: site plan, project concept and layout, space relationships, room shaping, circulation, and sightlines.
We work with the architect and acoustician as the main designers of the spaces. We have a strong interface with the other parties in the design team, notably other specialist designers, and the structural and house systems engineers.
Most of our clients are architects, but we also work directly with owners and users of theatres, concert halls, auditoriums, stadiums, exhibition spaces and museums, as well as with artists, curators, collectionneurs, and designers.
We like innovation - not for innovation itself, but for the answers that we can find for new and different ways to tell the story. The actual innovations themselves are not just preconceived notions about what we think theater is, but are always based on the clients vision for the building. For our Leicester project, the desire was to create a connection between the theater and the city, with its many inhabitants that did not grow up with British Repertory Theatre. The results are there to be seen.
