Opening MMArena Le Mans

31 January 2011

The MMArena opened last weekend with a soccer match between AC Ajaccio and Le Mans FC. The home team inaugurated their new home with a convincing 3-0 win, stirring hope for a speedy return to League 1.

The venue with room for just over 25 000 seated, is built just inside the track of the 24 hour race that made Le Mans famous.

The stadium will also have an important regional role for pop and rock concerts. Concerts can be setup with multiple stage and audience configurations. The stadium has extensive broadcast facilities for in-house use as well as (inter)national television.

dUCKS role in the design team included study of circulation, sightlines, and seating implantation, the concept design of all infrastructure for performance audio and broadcast facilities (internal and external), large video screens, staging systems, and all performance lighting.

Owner: Stadium of Le Mans
Architects: Cardete et Huet Architectes, Studio d'Architecture B. Huet
Scenographer: dUCKS scéno
