Finalists “Philippines, arts de l’échange”
18 October 2011
The exposition, at Museum Quai Branly in Paris, will be the first in France since twenty years dedicated to the archipelago of the Philippines. The jury finally chose a more classic design, but congratulated the team for the beauty and quality of the design.
The path of the proposed exposition is organized in an organic form, crossed by the main access ramp - the river - as imagined by Ateliers Jean Nouvel. An imaginary map on the floor guides the visitors from one island to the other, and from the high plains to the networks created in the river deltas. The high grounds are positioned at the taller entry, with the maritime networks unfolding after passing the river.
The collections are presented in suspension between the earth and the sky. The sacred objects are all placed inside a house, a temple, a cave, …
dUCKS worked in close collaboration with Stéphane Malka Architecture on the conception of the museographical path, the design of the display furniture and other presentation elements, the integration of audiovisual elements, and the art direction for the graphics of the exposition.
