OMA wins Media Library in Caen

The international design competition for the new Bibliothèque Multimédia à Vocation Régionale in Caen, France was won by OMA. The 12 000 m2 mediathèque is OMA’s first cultural builing in France.
The design exploits many opportunities for scenography in support of the key program themes (human sciences, science and technology, literature, and the arts). These elements are grouped along two axis that intersect. Their organization creates opennes and convergence -
The BMVR will include an auditorium that can be used for presentations, discussions et cetera, but also for artistic presentations and expositions.
