Quintaou Cultural Center in Anglet

Herault Arnod is laureate for the design competition for a new cultural center for Anglet. Positioned at the passage-ways between the food-market Marché du Quintaou, the mediatheque and a daycare center, the new center is truly integrated in the daily life of the village.
The project includes a 800-seat theater with a wide-ranging professional program: theater, orchestral music and choir. The interior shape of this theater follows the building envelope which responds to the topograpy and the way the building is nested between others. A second space is for smaller theater, dance and music productions, and will also be used by the various non-professional associations.
dUCKS assisted the architects in the development of the theater and urban concepts, and will provide sightline studies and design all theater installations, including the audiovisual and theater lighting systems.
