Opening DR Koncerthuset
17 January 2009
The Danish Radio Koncerthuset opened with a festive gala concert in the recently finished Studio 1. The concert was attended by Queen Margrethe and other members of the Royal Family, as well as architect Jean Nouvel and prominent figures of the client and design teams.
Studio 1 is an 1 800-seat concert hall with a vineyard seating layout. The three other studios in the building (also known as DR Byen segment 4) have already been in use over the past year for rehearsals, recordings and concerts. The main foyer is wedged-in between the concert hall and the studios below.
dUCKS role in the project started with the conceptual phase, and ended with an intensive technical installation coordination and commissioning phase for all theater technology aspects over the past two years. In this last phase, we were supported by our colleagues at ITV in Berlin.
