Ateliers Jean Nouvel have won the design competition for Paris' new concert hall. The hall, with a seating capacity of approximately 2 400, will be located in the Parc de la Vilette, on the north-east side of the city.

The design proposal includes several configurations for stage and audience providing an answer to the desire for a wide musical programming, that beyond the classic and romantic repertoire, embraces contemporary (and electronic) music, as well as jazz and world music.

For the competition, dUCKS focused on the program question of adaptability to the variety of musical performance styles and customs. Other subjects of research were sightlines, circulation of audiences, musicians and staff, and concept design for theater systems and infrastructure.
