Competition laureate Grenoble

28 December 2007

The City of Grenoble has awarded the submission of Herault Arnod Architectes with the first prize in the architecture competition for a new theater for amplified music.

The innovative design of the Scène de Musiques Amplifiées re-organizes the classical program elements to provide different modes of participation to the audience. The layout of the room has the typical standing room close to the stage, with seating further back, and ‘chill-out’ and ‘chill-in’ bars further from the main stage. The capacity will vary between 600 and 800.

The project is scheduled to open in 2010.
